Council 5175 was instituted in 1961 and is part of the national men's Catholic Fraternal Organization founded by Father Michael J. McGivney at Saint Mary's Church in New Haven Connecticut in 1882.

The Fraternity of Knights are dedicated to serving their respective Pastors and parishes. Together, this body of men serve as Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Ushers and members of Parish Roundtables. They also provide fellowship and support for the parish seniors and needy and organize fund raisers for the parish and other Knights of Columbus charities.
